$363 Million Upgrade for Melbourne Park Ensures Australian Open Until 2036

GRAND Slam tennis tournament the Australian Open will stay in Melbourne until at least 2036, after the government Melbourne Parkannounced a $363 million upgrade to the East Melbourne facility.

The facelift will include the installation of a new retractable roof for the Margaret Court Arena, along with 1500 more seats. A new Eastern Plaza including 21 new courts (eight indoor, 13 outdoor) will also be developed, while the upgrade includes upgrades to the existing Hisense and Vodafone arenas.
