Jobless rate up 0.1% in June

The unemployment rate rose slightly in June, from 5.7% in May to 5.8%. The median market forecast from economists was for the jobless rate to increase to 5.9%.

Full-time employment decreased 21,900 to 7.612 million in June, whiel part-time employment rose 400 to 3.151 million, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics.

The participation rate was 65.3% in June, compared with 65.4% in May.
