TWENTY years ago, entrepreneur and Melbourne crusader Ron Walker might have wined and dined the globe’s wealthiest international guests at the renowned, but now defunct Suntory restaurant, opposite Albert Park Lake.
But now Mr Walker is hoping to seal a different kind of deal at the address – quietly buying the massive site to redevelop into a major 228-unit apartment complex.
The former Liberal Party National Treasurer, who also served stints as chairman at Fairfax and Melbourne Major Events Company, is now a partner in burgeoning property group Evolve Development.
