Major projects in planning for Townsville total $14.5 billion, cementing the north Queensland city?s status as one of the boom regional economies in Australia.

A Colliers International report says there are 75 projects making up that total figure, of which $9.1 billion lies in projects described as ?committed?.

They include the $1.5 billion Rocky Springs residential project, the $1.2 billion Ocean Terminal, the $500 million Saltwater development and the $425 million Waterway Gardens.

Mirvac, which is developing the $200 million Mariners Peninsula apartment complex, says Townsville is ?one of the hottest property locations in the country?.
