A North Melbourne property once part-owned by Kangaroos footballer Wayne Carey, is to be replaced with a nine-level student accommodation complex.
 
Early next year, Flemington Road’s Redback Brewery Hotel will be demolished and the site redeveloped as a 240 unit complex.
 
Redback’s profits have dwindled since council’s decision to remove poker machines some years ago, and well after Carey sold his interest.
